Healthy Whole Foods

“I think it is tremendous to have my child exposed to a beautiful variety of foods. She tries so much here, and has many new favorites that she was not willing to try at home. Something about being with friends, being curious, the conversation at the table - it’s magic!”

Children are served high quality and varied foods, using family style service at the table surrounded by their friends and teachers in their classrooms.

The  kitchen is open to the center, so Nutrition Coordinator Ezilia makes sure children and families arrive in the morning to enticing smells, and also displays the fresh whole foods and menu she will serve throughout the day. As children pass the kitchen on the way to their classrooms or the playground, stopping to say hello and read the menu for the day with their families or teachers is a favorite ritual.

In the classrooms, mealtimes are seen as an opportunity to connect, share and learn about food and each other. The rhythm of the day gives teachers time for curiosity and conversation and for children to develop self help skills like passing, serving and pouring.

In addition to partnering with the Market Foundation and Market vendors, PMCCP also participates in the CACFP program. All meals and snacks are included in the tuition for all children.
