Dear Friends of PMCCP,
After seven wonderful years as Executive Director of the Pike Market Child Care & Preschool, I will be moving on at the end of June 2012.
Our community is what makes this preschool so special–from the Market neighbors and faithful donors to the eclectic families, caring volunteers and extremely dedicated staff. The commitment of the entire community is impressive. I feel humbled, grateful, and proud to be part of such a unique organization that provides such an important service.
This is an exciting time for the school. In January 2012, we relocated downstairs into a beautiful, brand new space, designed specifically for young children. After 29 years of service in a building that is over 100 years old, we moved back to the level in the Market where the Preschool first began in 1982.
I recently met a former board member who worked with the school for over a decade, shortly after it opened. It was delightful to hear her tell stories about the Blue Skies and Rainbow Birds like it was yesterday! She spoke of the Market community’s support and the importance of quality early education for all children–The passion for the mission continues, and will continue, after almost three decades. It is a testament to the significance of our work and the strength of our school.
The organization is in a great place in many ways. Our progressive program is well respected and leader in the field. Our staff is the best ever. With all this in mind, the school is well-poised for me to be moving on. It is an exciting and healthy time for new leadership to build upon PMCCP’s strengths.
With your continued support, we look forward to a smooth transition and the new opportunities change can bring. My last day will be at the end of June 2012, and the Preschool’s Board of Directors has already started a well-planned search. I hope to take a little time next July to spend with my family before deciding my next steps, and will always stay connected to the Market family.

In honor of Ellen’s outstanding commitment to Pike Market Child Care and Preschool, we have established the Ellen Greene Scholarship Fund. The Fund will provide tuition assistance to our families most in need, ensuring all children have access to high quality child care and education. We have already received $5,000 in contributions to Ellen’s Fund and would like to raise an additional $25,000 before June 30th.
